A Role is a reusable bundle of permissions — like "Technician" or "Counter Staff" — that you assign to one or more staff members at once, so you don't have to configure access from scratch for every new hire.
Under the hood, each role is really just a set of individual permissions (view job sheets, edit sales, access reports, manage settings, and so on). You can start from one of the common roles and fine-tune individual permissions for a specific staff member if they need slightly different access than the rest of their role.
